Meridia Diet Pill

Is Meridia Diet Pill Right For You?

Some individuals are either underweight or overweight. For a person to lose weight, there are many solutions available. Some need to enroll in an exercise program or need to make some changes in one’s food intake. Others have to undergo an operation.

One way of determining if a person is healthy is based on the person’s age, height and weight. If the person falls above a certain range, it means the individual is overweight. For people who are extremely overweight and are described as obese, there is still hope. There is prescription drug recommended by doctors called Meridia.

Meridia is a drug developed by Abbot Laboratories. It has proven to make people lose those extra pounds and keep it off permanently. Since it’s introduction in 1997, there have been thousands of patients who have agreed to take part in clinical trials. Studies have shown that these individuals were able to lose weight and maintain it for more than 2 years.

The main ingredient in this drug is Sibutramine. It works by sending a signal to an area in the brain making the person feel full after a few servings. This happens by blocking the uptake of serotonin and norephinephrine, 2 chemicals in the brain from resurging.

For the drug to work, doctor’s who prescribe this medication recommend patients to join an exercise program and to follow a low calorie diet.

Sicknesses such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease are often associated with people who are overweight. Taking Meridia diet pills can help prevent these problems from getting worse. This drug has also proven to be effective for people who have low BMI levels.

Meridia has proven to work with some patients who were able to lose 4 to 6 pounds in the first month of medication. Since this effect works differently among patients, those who were not able to lose weight may prompt the doctor to change the dosage prescribed.

Meridia is available in 3 different capsules. It comes in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg. Doctors usually recommend a capsule of 10mg per day.

Giving one’s personal medical history will tell doctor whether to prescribe the drug to the patient or not. If the person is taking other forms of medication, it is best to seek the advice of the doctor to see if it is safe to take at the same time.

If the person suffers from irregular heartbeat, eating disorders, pulmonary hypertension, heart conditions or stroke and atherosclerosis, the person is advised not to take this medication. If the patient is also taking any medicine to treat obsessive compulsive disorder or depression, one should not use this drug.

Doctors usually advise patients to take Meridia in the morning. This can be ingested even if the person has not eaten. Should the person accidentally forget taking the tablet for the day, the patient should just forget about it and follow the normal routine.

People taking Meridia may experience certain side effects. Some of these are nausea, back pain, constipation, headaches, dry mouth and trouble sleeping. If things get worse such as having rashes, problems with one’s vision, shivers and seizures, the person should check with the doctor at once.

Other side effects that may happen are muscle pains in different parts of the body, increased sweating, and loss of consciousness, fevers, depression and others which are  usually symptoms of toxicity.

Meridia is just one of the many other medications available to help a person who has a serious weight problem. For 9 years, it has been used in more than 75 countries to help fight obesity. If the patient has been able to consult with a doctor and is qualified to take this drug, then one should go ahead with it.

Since medicine can only do so much, joining an exercise program and making some changes in the diet can help the person reach the desired weight. The individual should just be ready and prepared for the side effects that may happen.

A lot of people will agree that it is easier to gain weight than losing it. By following the program and being in constant communication with one’s doctor, the person will eventually lose weight.
